??????? (Carmen Maki, real name: Maki Annette Lovelace, born on May 18, 1951 in Kamakura, Kanagawa, Japan) is a Japanese singer who has worked in several genres. Her father was American and her mother Japanese. Her career began in the late 1960s when she recorded a few folk and blues records, primarily as a part of the band Carmen Maki & Blues Creation, but also as a solo artist, with her debut album "?????? ??????????" (Poems in the Midnight: Till the Candle Goes Out), released in 1969.
