Biography

Francesco Antonio Bonporti (11 June 1672, Trento, Italy – 19 December 1749, Padua, Italy) was an Italian priest and amateur composer. In 1691, he was admitted in the Collegium Germanicum in Rome, where he studied theology. His master of composition was Giuseppe Ottavio Pitoni and, although not confirmed, Arcangelo Corelli taught him the violin. He became a priest in Trento in 1695. In 1740 he moved to Padua, where he lived until his death in 1749.
