Biography

Richard Teitelbaum (May 19, 1939 in New York, New York) is a composer, keyboardist, and improvisor. He is a former student of Allen Forte, Mel Powell and Luigi Nono. He is best known for his live electronic music and synthesizer performance. He is also involved with world music and uses Japanese, Indian, and western classical instruments and notation. He studied Italy with Luigi Nono and Goffredo Petrassi. While in Italy, he became a founding member of Musica Elettronica Viva with Alvin Curran and Frederic Rzewski.
