Airy Fiddlers' Convention in 2004, the Forge Mountain Diggers quickly realized that they were onto something good. They have won or placed in contests at Mt. Airy, the Stecoah Valley Festival, the Appalachian Stringband Festival (Clifftop), and the Galax Old Fiddlers’ Convention. The Diggers released their first CD in June 2006, and have shared stages with the Grascals, Uncle Earl, and Mike Compton (of the Nashville Bluegrass Band.)
